We all know people who are waiting for times to change, fortune to show its face, or the intervention of others to make a difference in our lives.
I have news for you – nothing in life happens by itself. Except ageing, which will happen, regardless of our input. In setting your goals and dreams, one has to give yourself a little push to get going.
In most cases, no-one will turn the television off to get you off the couch and no-one will put your running shoes on to start your fitness routine. Just as no-one will take the initiative to restore a broken or harmed relationship which is causing you sleepless nights.
Perhaps the time has come for you to face the mirror and ask yourself: “Where do I need a little push to get going on my path of rekindling the fire in my life and reaching my dreams?”
Take stock of your skills, expertise and shortcomings. The second question you could ask the mirror, is what you are learning in or from your current situation and which skills could be honed to better equip you on your path.
Some people focus on what they want; others focus on the obstacles that keep them from what they want. Take note of the obstacles but do not make them your point of focus.
Once you have determined what you want, re-visit your own definition of confidence. It is not believing in yourself, but the willingness to try. And trying means doing or acting.
Newton’s law proved that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The energy of your words and actions will always come back to you. Ultimately, it is action that results in growth. And action starts with a little push, where it is most needed.
